CM and GFM indeed don't support this. It could be added through plugins though. One example is the title attribute, I think that could work!
It can be implemented separately from this plugin though, as it's own plugin!

Title is the only officially supported image attribute in CommonMark and Github Flavored markdown.

For sizing, but both of these depend on having brackets to determine when the attribute start and end.
Without having the brackets what would be used to determine of the text should be an attribute or plain text?

I am remembering now that most markdown editors donβt use pure common mark and add width and height via other means.
