I like it! I will look into integrating it into binwalk. Thanks!

Just a quick comment. Until now I used traditional diff/bindiff to compare different versions of extracted firmwares. Most of linux based firmwares have lots of symlinks inside(ex busybox). I have to use find to remove symlinks before running diff. So it will be a great idea to have a command line switch to omit symlinks when comparing two directories and probably omit some file extensions(like opkg .control files with different build date).

I have some preliminary code checked in. There were too many features I wanted to add to this, so I felt it justified to make this a separate tool (rehash), though the API is still in the binwalk module. And yes m0sia, it ignores symlinks by default (this can be overridden if needed).

I would also like to add an "auto-diff" feature to binwalk, such that it diffs extracted directories automatically.

I added a --rehash option to binwalk. When extracting multiple firmware images, this option will automatically perform a hash comparison against all files extracted from the first firmware image against the files extracted from the other firmware images and display any files that are not at least 50% similar:

 $ binwalk -e --rehash firmware1.bin firmware2.bin firmware3.bin
