The API turned out to be slightly different, because the UseAmazonSQS
methods already accepted an options object, so I decided to use that.
With Rebus.AmazonSQS 6.4.0 (which is on NuGet.org now), you can do this:
services.AddRebus(
configure => configure
.Transport(t => {
var options = new AmazonSQSTransportOptions {
GetVisibilityTimeoutOnAbort = context => TimeSpan.FromSeconds(5)
};
t.UseAmazonSQS(..., options);
})
);
(and the context
passed to the function is ITransactionContext
, which means that you can access lots of interesting stuff, if you want to e.g. inspect the headers of the message, the message itself, etc.)
I hope you can make good use of it 🙂

Oh that's actually a pretty good idea!
I could imagine a configuration based on a callback, which would enable inspection of the received message etc when deciding the delay - something like this:
services.AddRebus(
configure => configure
.Transport(t => {
t.UseAmazonSQS(...)
.ConfigureMessageVisibilityDelayOnAbort(context => TimeSpan.FromMinutes(2));
})
);
How do you think that looks?
