What I ended up doing was:

  • Started the new Raven-QT.exe, and configured the data directory.
  • Then exited right as soon as it started to sync (not actually letting it sync).
  • Then copied in my backup wallet.dat.
  • Then started the new Raven-QT.exe again.

So, in your list put 3 at the end after 6, if that makes sense. I'm not sure if I had the same issue, but that's how I ended up doing it for some reason. Might be worth a try as a workaround.

I was trying to track down the binary from January/Early feb to see if that would work better (could be a version bug?) but I don't know how to find the executable from prior to current.

If anyone is experiencing overwrite of the wallet.dat -- actual destruction of the wallet.dat file, please comment here.

For a likely fix for the above problem, run the ravend with -rescan to cause the Ravencoin client to rescan any downloaded chain data for transactions with the addresses it finds in the wallet.

Safely backup any wallet.dat files before experimentation!
