If you run blkid do you see anything? I'll try this in VMware, maybe VMware has a SCSI driver that's missing.

During boot up I see a message:

I see nothing when I type blkid

Is udev log stored anywhere?

Udev won't show much of anything. If you dmesg it will print the kernel logs from startup. I'm guessing the kernel doesn't have the right module compiled in

Does /dev/sga exist? The VMware pvscsi driver is being registered. I think sga is the right name.

I don't see /dev/sga or anything else that resembles a block device.

Both Ubuntu 14.04 and CentOS 7 show /dev/sda under the same VMware Workstation.

I created a new disk and picked SATA. It works and shows up as /dev/sda. VMware gives me 3 choices: IDE, SCSI, and SATA. Default is SCSI

It seems that I didn't include the right scsi drivers in the kernel. I'm missing the Fusion MPT drivers. I'm building a new kernel and will create a new release

I can see /dev/sda show up in the 0.0.6 release after boot up. However there is still a problem: VMware scsi drives still don't work as a state device. RancherOS does not mount it as state drive during boot up.

This is most likely due to the fact that we mount the state before running udev. The order needs to be flipped. I'll add a simple fix in the ISO for this, but the proper fix will have to be in next release
