It may be a bug actually, I'm not sure we're using httpx correctly for this kind of scenario. Can you try commit 42e2c5c and see if that resolves your problem?

And even if it works, I think we can do better than such a commit. We probably want to keep reusing a single httpx client but close it manually in our AsyncClient when we're done, either by making our AsyncClient a context manager, or with the atexit module maybe?

async def main():
    with async_notion:
        await asyncio.gather(async_notion.databases.retrieve(**{"database_id": "123"})), async_notion.databases.retrieve(**{"database_id": "123"}))

asyncio.run(main())

or

async_notion = AsyncClient(auth=NOTION_TOKEN)

async def main()
    await asyncio.gather(async_notion.databases.retrieve(**{"database_id": "123"})), async_notion.databases.retrieve(**{"database_id": "123"}))
    await async_notion.aclose()

asyncio.run(main())

whatever you prefer. :)
