Hmm, what I think you can do here is to compare these via string routes instead of using appDestination, since it seems like it's possible that is called before NavHost. I cannot understand how that could be, but it seems like it's the case.

So, in BottomNavigationStyle.isCurrentToTheLeft instead of using appDestination, do navBackStackEntry.destination.route (all official APIs, not compose destinations) and compare the string routes with MyDestination.route.

This app destination is troublesome in general. It also still causes a lot of ANRs and similar crashes #370
