Hmm, your Python version is a bit outdated. Could you try with a newer version of the Python 2.6 series?

I upgraded to "Python 2.6.6 ( r266 :84297, Aug 24 2010, 18:46:32) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win32" and I still have the issue. I'll attempt this on another win32 system this evening.

I am not having the issue on Windows 2000 with the latest Python (2.6.6), NumPy (1.5.1), and numexpr (1.4.1). I suspect it might be due to the age of NumPy on the originally specified Python installation. I'll check the NumPy version tomorrow.

The NumPy installation on the initially mentioned Python installation was quite old. Upgrading NumPy to current (1.5.1) eliminated the problem.
