being able to set the order in which icons are displayed would give more control than hide / unhide, and allow a standard display across platforms.
a right-click contextual menu option to "hide this component" would be slick
from psychopy.

the Components panel supports categories which are defined within components and with a special Favorites category that tracks previous usage.
