Timeline
Dec. 15, 2014 - Latest release, v5.1.0, by Cedric Vincent, (See: git checkout tags/v5.1.0; git log -n1).
Nov. 3, 2016 - New maintainers step up to continue development of PRoot, (See: proot-me/proot#106).
Jun. 16, 2017 - Development stagnates due to frozen PRs, (See: proot-me/proot#122).
Oct. 1, 2017 - New release requested, (See: proot-me/proot#127).
Status
There are currently nine people on the PRoot Team, (According to the GitHub organization, most members are hidden), however many of them are no longer active.
Seeking Core Infrastructure Initiative (CII), Best Practices Badge via self-certification, (See: proot-me/proot#157).
Support for musl added; PRoot ported to Alpine Linux, (See: https://git.alpinelinux.org/aports/commit/?id=e5bc64161b3a4b079fa324bcb3a52e2303d17c08).
