When the text says that we alias sample(bernoulliERP, [p])
to flip(p)
it literally means flip(p)
is a shortcut to draw a sample from a bernoulliERP with parameter p. We alias the call to the sample
function along with the ERP. So you don't need to wrap it in a second call to sample
-- otherwise you'd be sampling from a concrete value.
Does that make sense? How do you think this could be better clarified in the text?

Thanks for the clarification! That does make sense. Most people might get this and I was simply being dense, so changing the text might not be necessary.

Great! Thanks for bringing it up.
