I think that the nae of the controls file is called controls.svg (scaleable vector format).

I think that is right. Take it with a grain of salt :-P

And the next thing I will watch for. ;D

Don't need the internal Media Controls cause I use Soundcloud, Spotify and so on.

I try to use as little plugins as possible to improve security. Plus I use a lot of custom media.

Here is a link that may be of interest:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13932181/no-buttons-on-control-bar-mediaelement-js
It seems to say that the images are in mediaelement.js

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I have done more research and it may be that your theme is not linking to the correct files
https://github.com/WordPress/WordPress/tree/master/wp-includes/js/mediaelement
that is where he controls and other media items are.

Hope this helps!

On the way to solve it I recognized a bug in my Solution for #50. -.-'
My way to disable the OptionTree Pages does "destroy" the Media-Select Lightwindow - it will load infinite.

And for this Issue: I try to reconstruct the problem but on my site everything is fine with media controls.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I just looked. The top media element was fine but the second lacked controls. Is it just me?

On a system that I admin I have other people that can't see the controls.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

nvm...
The second now works. :-$ I can't understand it.

It may be my adblocker. I will check my admined sites.

The CSS-Background atribute is ok - check via FTP if this file exists:
/wp-includes/js/mediaelement/controls.svg

Cause this file is missing - and it's not a Theme-File.

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I have already checked. It is present along with its PNG counterparts.

OK, I looked up - yes the file exists. But something is wrong with it.
If I open it in the Browser it return the sourcecode and not the graphics
my file: http://tkwitkowski.de/wp-includes/js/mediaelement/controls.svg
your file: http://powellhistory.com/wp-includes/js/mediaelement/controls.svg
I don't know why, but you file won't get syntax highlighted. try to replace it with a new one out of the latest Wordpress-zip

The reason why there are no Icons is that the Browser won't interprete it as a graphic - don't know why.

OK I will try that!

I have replaced the mediaelement folder with WordPress original files...

It still does not work. I read that the .htaccess file might define some of the svg characteristics.

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

It's a bit more as usual cause i use a security plugin:

# BEGIN iThemes Security
    # BEGIN Hide Backend
            # Rules to hide the dashboard
            RewriteRule ^/dev-login/?$ /wp-login.php [QSA,L]

    # END Hide Backend
    # BEGIN Tweaks
        # Rules to block access to WordPress specific files
        <files .htaccess>
            Order allow,deny
            Deny from all
        </files>
        <files readme.html>
            Order allow,deny
            Deny from all
        </files>
        <files readme.txt>
            Order allow,deny
            Deny from all
        </files>
        <files install.php>

    # END Tweaks
# END iThemes Security

RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

# END WordPress

The important Wordpress part is the last one # BEGIN WordPress to # END WordPress. And I haven't any clue why it won't work for you. :(

Hmm... I do not see any SVG code...

What version of Wordpress are you using?

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

I'm using 3.9.1 - everytime the latest Version.

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

A way to solve it is to use the png instead of the svg - just a little css change.

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

What is the code?
I have a CSS plugin so that the CSS changes are persistent through upgrades.

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

should be this

.mejs-controls .mejs-button button {
background-image: url("controls.png");
}

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I tried it but no luck :(

Is there somewhere in the theme that dictates where to look for the objects?

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

No, it's the standard wordpress style - it's your svg file that's corrupted. The styles are the same and right as anywhere. :/

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I used the ones from the wordpress.zip file (latest version) can you provide me your files?

What are the permissions on your WP installation?

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

I have just put your SVG in and it does the same thing. I think it may have to do with permissions or a theme/plugin.

from hueman.

Gummibeer avatar Gummibeer commented on May 19, 2024

Sorry, but that's the point where I'm clue less ...
The Theme doesn't change anything with the Media Controls
The File is the same as anywhere else but won't get interpreted as svg

That's the only thing I found for this problem:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6405249/svg-not-drawing-on-safari

It's like my idea that your server send it as the wrong type - don't know how to fix this, never had this problem. I hope that this will help you a bit!?

from hueman.

elliot-huffman avatar elliot-huffman commented on May 19, 2024

OK. I just got them working! It turns out that it was the MIME settings. There was no SVG/SVGZ defined so I had to add them to the .htaccess file. Godaddy does not have a control panel for MIME.

Thank You for all of your help! Without you I would not have solved it!

P.S. When is the theme dev on usually?
