What I do, is just build and statically link ELSE to libpd, and call all the setup functions (or at least the ones you need) manually. That way you don't depend on libpd finding the externals in your externals folder.

this is not a proper issue and I can't really help as I never did it, but maybe @timothyschoen can help, as he includes this in plugdata via ilbpd
