Almost certainly an upstream issue. Do you think you could repeat your tests with Electrum 1.9.8?

Are there some ways to run both the Electrum-LTC server and Electrum-BTC server on the same LAN? They both use ports 50001/50002 and 8001/8002.. I know it is possible for the clients, but I have a hard time for the servers.

You can change the ports in the configuration files (/etc/electrum.conf and /etc/electrum-ltc.conf).

Tried that on the BTC server, like using ports 50010/50011. The server starts ok, but the moment my client (on another machine) tries to manually connect to it, on any of those ports, it crashes the server. "UTF8 codec can't decode byte 0x84 in position 4, invalid start byte"

I had to shut down the LTC server, for the BTC server to function properly - couldn't get it to work on ports different than the defaults.
To answer your 16 days old question: yes, it is upstream. Most MS Win clients "linger" in the connection list until they are kicked out by the 1100 seconds timer - there is a lot of Windows machine out there... Thus, I am closing the comment. I must be an old bug, I have noticed that it is happening regardless of their version 1.9.6/1.9.7/1.9.8.

PS: Wow! There is a lot more people using the BTC version... Had over 60 clients - just a few hours after starting the BTC server, compared to 4-5 with LTC, on a good day. When is Electrum-LTC coming out of Beta?

Hopefully very soon! The latest release candidate seems pretty stable.
