@guenp, I'm going to look into that error. In the mean time, here are some possible solutions for you:

The problem is the shared-axes. While that's definitely supported in Plotly, it's not yet being exported from matplotlib. I'll leave this issue thread open as we work on it. Thanks for the response!

I ran across this thread trying to figure out what's going on with my offline output from plot_mpl. I can get plotly output from data I generated in matplotlib using the plot_mpl method, but the shared axis is not working. Is this still an open issue (exporting shared axis from matplotlib)?
