Sorry it's not [] in a filename. My file is called multiselect.tmpl.html

If I rename to multiselect.html it works as expected.

I've just tested this with master, and it seems files with extensions before the .html aren't included in the asset pipeline.
Except for that, I can't reproduce your issue.
