Hi schlueter.
Are you running the default Apache provided by OS X, or are you using the MacPorts
provided one? It's a well-known problem that the default OS X Apache is broken. In
fact, the installer warns you about it.
If you're using the default OS X Apache, then you should use the MacPorts Apache instead.

It turns out that this is a problem in the file descriptor passing code. It has been
fixed in commit e58be53.
