Interesting. Adding a Pester self test is doable, but can't really do much else if Pester is not installed properly.
Get-Module
should be sufficient to see if Pester is installed or not.

There's nothing we can do to fix this from within the Pester module, since that too would be unavailable. The only thing I would add to @artribou's comment is the -ListAvailable
switch to Get-Module
. Without it, Get-Module only shows you modules that have already been imported to the current PowerShell session.
