That's not how you are supposed to do backups though. Instead of copying/moving wallet.dat to other locations, you should use the 'ppcoind backupwallet <backup_file_name>' command to do the backup.

Just adding something to this. To protect you wallet you should at the very least:
- Encrypt it with a password on the client.
- Back it up to multiple locations.
This should be fairly sufficient to keep your wallet safe. Renaming it will not protect you.
