I expected pdm run
to show me the available console scripts and allow me to run them.
I understand this was not the intention, but at least for me, it was quite unintuitive.

I don't know what you expect here
project.scripts
is a standard way to expose console scripts for distribution while tool.pdm.scripts
only defines shortcuts for some tasks for development. And the latter, as the name suggests, can only be recognized by pdm
.
pipx
, on the contrary, looks for the console script entry points to call a script, and here is the output if I comment and uncomment the tool.pdm.scripts
line in your project:
pipx run --spec . pdm-script
'pdm-script' executable script not found in package 'pdm-script'.
Available executable scripts:
There might be some caching in pipx so you saw the same result.
This is behavior is totally desired and you may have misunderstanding.
