that doesn't solve the problem... You need to actually create a screenshot of the link using a tool such as Ghost.py (mentioned) or PhantomJS

This seems to be interesting http://cburgmer.github.io/rasterizeHTML.js/.
There are no server-side dependencies.
I'll integrate rasterizeHTML.js to generate thumbnails for posts that don't have any thumbnail.
PhantomJS and Ghost.py require many server side dependencies ( Qt is too heavy for this simple project ...)
