as part of this we also should figure out whether there is a better way than the current proxy libs and whether and how to bundle third party libs, like jquery.
from patterns.
My thoughts on this:
- easy update of external libs, by just dropping them in with the right filename
- generate a (minified) bundle with all dependencies
- leave out selected dependencies eg to pull them via cdn
- load patterns via requirejs in a project using patterns
- further requirements in a project using patterns, ie. using requirejs also for the project using us
- bundle all up with no need to use requirejs
- jquery to be loaded before jquery plugins
- minimize code in patterns that need a jquery plugin, I would like to avoid declaring jquery and the plugin via order!xyz, it would be nice if declaring the dependency on the plugin would be enough.
- If possible get rid off the proxy libs
from patterns.
With the proxy libs the original lib file can include the version number without the need to change it all over in case of an upgrade, only change in the proxy lib necessary. Not sure whether this is the reason to stick to the concept. I stick to it for new libs until we know where want to go.
