Strange, I'm seeing this as well. Worth noting that I'm using this syntax via vim-polyglot, but its copy doesn't appear to have any changes. (It's also worth noting that I'm using Neovim 0.8.1)

This is definitely an issue with polyglot. It doesn't repro with just this plugin by itself, sorry.

I tried it again with regular Vim and just this plugin, and I'm still seeing it. :/

My ~/.vim directory is empty outside of a .netrwhist file and this plugin, and these are the commands I ran:

packadd vim-javascript
set filetype=javascript
syntax on

This is with Vim 8.2 bundled with macOS, including patches 1-4113

Edit: Same thing in Homebrew Vim 9.0, patches 1-1000
