@DeepDiver1975 thanks for the advice! I managed to find a solution to the issue. My photos were of very high resolution, I added parameters from the specified file. After adding new parameters, I restarted the server and the previews were displayed without errors.

Could you please tell me what exactly you changed? Because I have the same problem. I just installed owncloud docker for the first time (10.14.0 (stable) ) and there is no preview for jpg files, other files (tested png and webp) seem to work fine.
Edit: I got it working. So, if anyone else stumbles across this, I added the following to my config.php:
'preview_max_filesize_image' => 100,
'preview_max_dimensions' => '8096x8096',
I had those as env variables im my docker yaml file, but somehow it got ignored.
