Solution: reverse the noid string. Since they're sequential, the "buckets" will be moderately well-distributed. The first NOID might be 3r074v08n, which, when reversed, is n80v470r3. The second noid would be 3r074v09x - reversed to x90v470r3. The first two characters will be totally different, resulting in individual buckets being creating for all 300-ish combinations of letter + number before any single bucket adds a second sub-bucket.
