Same issue here:

• OS: Ubuntu 17.10 (64-bit)
• Browser: both Firefox 58.0.2 (64-bit) and Chromium 64.0.3282.167 produce this error continuously in the console.

Chromium and Firefox running locally can communicate with each other (peers = 1), but cannot find any other peers.

Same issue. I'm running Mac OS X Mojave (10.14) and Firefox 63.0.1. It did not work either on Android Nougat 7, but is working fine on Debian 9.5 Stretch, on both Firefox 60.3.0esr and 70.0.3538.67.

I'll try installing the code on a server to see if it works.

I believe we need to update js-ipfs to a newer version.

@aphelionz can we create a bigger issue for updating package.json with testing.( js-ipfs, grunt-open,and all warnings )

@latenssi has been working on a re-write of this repo in https://github.com/orbitdb/orbit-chat. Many of the issues reported here have been fixed there, including updating to newer js-ipfs as well as as fixing issues with the build pipeline (eg. what is mentioned in #31).

I would highly encourage to sync up before fixing it here.
