Thanks for the bug report. I am trying to gather some information on the cause of this issue:

  1. What CPU and OS are you using?
  2. Is Stopwatch.IsHighResolution true or false in your system?

In any case, I have committed a fix in 7f64945, please verify that it is working now.

CPU = AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core
OS = Windows 7 - 32bit
Stopwatch.IsHighResolution = true (as is the default in OpenTK)

I checked the modifications set out in 7f64945and now the exception does not appear.

Thanks for your work.

Thanks, this could be the same issue as described here: "Stopwatch returns negative elapsed time"

The committed patch will protect against this problem, but timing accuracy may suffer on systems with this behavior. If this proves to be a real issue, then Thread.SetProcessorAffinity could help.

Edit: forgot to mention that IsHighPerformance is true when the high-performance counter is available on the CPU or motherboard. (Some motherboards offer a BIOS setting to turn this on/off.) If IsHighPerformance is false, then Stopwatch will use DateTime.UtcNow to measure time, which is limited to ~15ms of accuracy.
