by commenting out some of the requirements - it proceeded to install llvmlite.
maybe some conflict between subsequent libraries...

hi @vinthony - what is the output for your environment with
llvm-config --version

my machine is playing up. I made a PR - without that change - the conda environment is correctly activated.
