Hello, I have the very same issue. I tried to reinstall perian but it didn't
help :(
There is an option int the movist preferences Advanced->Details: Disable Perian
Subtitle for using QuickTime.
But Enabling/Disabling this feature does not solve the issue.

Same problem here!Uninstalling Perian completely(manually) rebooting and
reinstalling it seems to fix the
problem temporarily(because on the next restart the problem reoccurs)...

Perian 1.1.4 resolves the issue.

This is not caused by Movist, but something wrong with Snow Leopard's new QT
