OK, I hadn't fully understood the potential issue you mentioned. As it turns out, GR is the correct code so we will have issues if we want to add more columns in the future with other datapoints; so instead I'm going to add a workaround in the data processing step to replace EL with GR on the fly.

Correct, GR is the international code as of ISO 3166 however the EU code is based on the name of the country in its official language thus EL for Ελληνική Δημοκρατία.
Since most EU countries use Latin alphabet GR/EL might be the only conflict.
Let's just keep an eye for similar issues. ;-)
