The way the data for Italy gets polled does not have a good mechanism to tell us when the true source of data was updated. In this example, when we read the data it has an updateTime of 3/24 which means it will go on the 3/25 ECDC report. However, Italy's ministry of health does not publish the numbers until the evening so during the day data from the previous day continues to be reported until the update finally propagates.
That said, I just found out about what appears to be an authoritative source of the numbers for Italy which is in machine-readable format so we'll probably switch to that soon: https://github.com/pcm-dpc/COVID-19.
