Most external keyboards that are designed for iOS don't actually have an escape key (it's usually replaced by a home button), so I'm not sure how useful this would actually be. You can dismiss the suggestions popup with right/left arrow keys though.

Well I have a normal external Bluetooth keyboard that has an Escape key, and I would find it very useful. It wouldn't cause any issues for people without an Escape key, right? (FWIW, Slack has some things bound to Escape too, so it's not that uncommon apparently.)

@dgelessus what's the status of this issue? Asking, because I don't have keyboard with Esc key.
Also, to be honest, I struggle with this is as well. Even when I use Pythonista on a daily basis, I can't get myself to do it without thinking. Always slows me down little bit, then I say to myself "ha, left/right key", ... and next day again, again and again. No other solution on my mind except this Esc key.

Nope, doesn't work yet in either the console or the editor.
