Seems the slowdown is caused by the amount of .desktop files in my application directory, as is most logical.
But - i now figured out how to use nwggrid-server and it's perfectly quick. Thanks so much, good luck!

~ 160 ms from Terminator , a bit too slow
What launcher are you talking about?
I recommend adding to CSS:
Thanks, I'll check it.
Tried using CSS scale:0.9 and transition to 1.0 on hover, to make cool bouncy effect, but didnt work.. did I accidently mess it up, or is it by design? CSS3 could allow some amazing effects.
Gtk does not support all CSS3 features. Unfortunately I don't have the sheet at hand, I'll investigate it later today.
But all in all - I absolutely love this app. Thanks!
We're happy to hear it :)

150ms on average for grid, a bit slow, same speed from terminal and when launching from openbox tint2
and 85ms on average for bar
from nwg-launchers.
and it opens up with a small glitch, so could it be possible somehow load it into memory, use somekinda daemon or i don't know, I'm not much of a software engineer, but perhaps can find a way, to make it appear in a virtual instance, + then also fade it all in smoothly via compositor ... food for thought
cheers

Have you tried running grid in client-server mode?

Yes, nothing appears, yet no errors in terminal

... and another " issue " with it i find sometimes a bit frustrating - when click on overlay background, it forwards mouse clicks throught it, instead of just closing the app

What distro are you running? Is it X11 or Wayland? What version of nwg-launchers?

It should close the app. Once again, the details should help us to fix the issue.

I am using Arch, X11, and Openbox, that seems to be identified automatically without me needing to define it in command
When I run nwggrid-server, nothing visibly appears, but terminal says:
INFO: wm: openbox INFO: Locale: en INFO: Using css file '"/home/johan/.config/nwg-launchers/nwggrid/style.css"' Total: 223ms common: 38ms window: 13ms models: 172ms

Could you post the output of pacman -Qs nwg-launchers
? Quick test fails to reproduce the issue on my machine, so let's check everything.

I tested, had the normal version., tried git version, deleted custom config, still same .. but you know what - it's okay, i am not obsessing over absolute perfection, it's all good 👍

I think it's okay to close the issue now :)
