With a Master of Science in Computer Science from Lakehead University, I have developed a strong foundation in various programming languages, machine learning, data analysis, and data visualization techniques. I have also gained hands-on experience in image processing and data streaming/pipelines with Apache Kafka through my academic projects, such as image pre-processing for lung disease detection and safety sign detection with haptic feedback.

As a software engineer at Viral Nation, I have applied my skills and knowledge to lead and collaborate with teams of developers on innovative and impactful products. I have successfully reduced the turnaround time of VN Secure, a product for social media-based background checks, by 85% and increased the throughput by 60% by adapting the data streaming/pipeline architecture. I have also led the conversion of eight existing REST API-based analysis repositories to Kafka data streaming with image, video, and text-based ML models to perform multiple forms of content analyses. Furthermore, I have contributed to the development of a mobile application with Flutter, achieving a 50% reduction in bundle size and over 5000 users before the final launch.

I am passionate about creating solutions that leverage the power of data and machine learning to solve real-world problems and enhance user experiences. Computer tomography (CT) scans are one of the only ways to diagnose lung diseases. With the rise of lungrelated issues in recent times, it would be a boon if a system existed that would aid medical professionals to diagnose diseases from chest CT scans. This paper proposes to develop such a system in the form of two separate modules using basic image processing techniques and convolutional neural networks (CNN). The image processing module uses basic image processing to reduce computational complexity and produce excellent results, while the classification module is reliable while also training at an acceptable rate. Our proposed system predicts lung disease with an average accuracy of 98.11% which is on par with other methods that are far more complex and use significantly higher computational resources.
