From testing it seems that the scrollbar works much nicer on Windows + Firefox. Needs some more testing on different platforms.

Further testing shows that it's only happing on Linux on Firefox. Chrome, Edge and Windows seem to be unaffected.
The scrollbar hides itself after a while, so it's not part of the layout. If that's annoying there's a setting to fix it called "always show scrollbars"
Tried using the css property scrollbar-gutters, but that didn't seem to work - it also might be a conscious decision to want them like this, so this is a wontfix.
