I had a conversation with @JuliaNocera and @abrunner94 on this need and the nexts steps would be to meet them to discuss what is possible, I'll set up some time in our next sprint as this isn't a top priority in this sprint.

We spoke as group and came up with the following next steps:
- We are using signups as the starting event in our periscope charts, not clicks from the external site.
- Verifying your account is a new session, so it makes sense we loose the userID in this funnel.
- We think that user is assigned a new ID in this new session.
- The Docs team may have figured out how to measure sign up correlation to a particular docs page, as it's a similar use case, we should ask them.
- Steve Simpson may also know more about the challenges here.
- Temporarily we could use the view summary nerdlet in the funnel as we know all external users are sent there first, but does the same issue apply with the session breaking.
