@grossadamm a few others and myself have been working on a similar serialization gem, and we also came across this problem. We decided to make it configurable to allow the host app to specify which JSON library to utilize: https://github.com/procore/blueprinter#oj

Just wanted to share what our approach was because it could be useful for this as well.

Interesting... I like the concept. I'm curious if we can somehow detect MRI vs non-MRI to load Oj on automatically when using MRI. Otherwise, I think it will be a matter of good documentation. I will confess that I've not done much work outside of the MRI world.

Is Oj no longer needed? Should we be installing Oj separately? I'm a bit confused as to what the protocol is now.
