you could use config.get<string>('NUMBER_VALUE', 'default')

Or use the ConfigService like the docs shows:

interface Foo {
  NUMBER_VALUE: string
}

const config = new ConfigService<Foo>()

const config = app.get(ConfigService);
//    ^ ConfigService<any, any>
config.get('A_KEY', 'default') // TSC error ❌

const config = app.get<ConfigService>(ConfigService);
//    ^ ConfigService<Record<string, unknown>, false>
