It is a bit suboptimal but for various reasons Arrays and Hashes can't be used as 'children' in RABL right now period. Any object with dot notation (@foo.bar) can be used but there's an additional constraint that it responds to valid?. So @flash does not work as a child object.

Here's what does:

node(:flash) do |f|
  { :msg => flash[:msg], :name => flash[:name] }
end

Looks like you need:

flash[:notice]
node(:flash) do |f|
  flash.each_pair do |k, v|
    { :msg => v, :name => k }
  end
end

creating

flash : [{ :msg => "...", :name => "notice"}, ...]

Right?
