Does not work with Chrome 7.0.517.5 dev Windows, too.
from jqapi.
It's caused by same origin policy.
It works in Chrome only when running a localhost server and pointing to the HTML version using HTTP protocol (e.g. http://localhost:8888/location_of_jqapi/index.html) protocol instead of FILE (e.g. file://location_of_jqapi/index.html).

This seems to be a problem with Chrome.
Stated here at the very end of the page: http://docs.jquery.com/Types
"Google does not appear to have an official page for their XHR documentation for Chrome. As of version 5, Chrome does not support the use of the file protocol for XHR requests."
Here is the reference to the Google Chrome issue:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=47416
To enable the file protocol (be careful with this!), the workaround is launching Chrome with the command option: --allow-file-access-from-files
The official Chromium blog has published a blog about the security risks for enabling file protocol: http://blog.chromium.org/2008/12/security-in-depth-local-web-pages.html
At the end they wrote that they are planning to implement directory-based restrictions, and preventing local web pages sending information back to internet. So this is an issue related to Chrome rather than jqapi.
