Do the Mac/Linux versions have alt+N and alt+P to search for the next or previous occurrence (respectively)? If so, using alt+shift+N and alt+shift+P to cycle through the suggestions might make sense.

On Mac, find-again is cmd-g and find-again-reverse is cmd-shift-g.

Or, can we prefix the suggestion words with 1, 2, 3, 4..., and allow users to press alt or ctrl+1/2/3/4 to complete the rest of the word? Thanks,

I would assume this only happens when focus is in the find box?

I wonder if the numbers should show up. Just like how tabs don't have numbers on them but you can switch to them with ctrl-1. But one main difference is that the find bar suggestions only show up when you're typing, so having the numbers inline might not be too distracting.

I think it should only happens when focus is in the find box. As to the numbering items, it is sort of like an input method. Here is the link to google's cloud input: http://www.google.com/transliterate/chinese
If you type something in the text box, there will a small widget with candidates numbered. Press the number key will confirm the option. This is pretty standard for non-english inputs.

Sure, but that interface then makes it hard to type numbers. I suppose that's why you suggested ctrl-#.
