ping @potch, can we get them?

Yes, UFOs (or whatever) would be great!

The newly released version 3.1 (3.105) on http://dev.carrois.com/en/fira-3-1/ now provides .glyphs source files as well. These are sources in XML format specific to Glyphs and without published open specs which practically means no other cross-platform type design tool can make use of the format (there is no glyphs2ufo). Publishing UFOs would be good. Publishing a full source tree structure including designer and script developer documentation (design guide, specimens, guide to the language coverage and smart features), FONTLOG.txt, detached .fea files for the OpenType, test suite, build script and web formats would be much better.

@n7s God, this is awesome! thanks for posting this. All links on that page give a Not found message in German through.

Wish there was one single place where these fonts are distributed also, from Mozilla alone they are offered on three different locations.

I have the .glyph files available, and can add them with the caveat that we may not be accepting modifications into our main repository for the time being.

ruediger avatar ruediger commented on July 17, 2024

Would it be possible to use UFO instead of .glyph files for the repo? (Glyphapp should support UFO as well) As @n7s said .glyph is limited to a proprietary tool. This would lock out users of free software. It would also prevent the font from being included in Debian main. http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-fonts-devel/2014-May/014572.html

@potch Also, will you be in sync with version 3.1 found on carrois.com?

EDIT: seems like carrois now has Beta UFO Sources.
