Doesn't work with Mongoid::Paranoia about mongoid-slug HOT 4 CLOSED

Hm, I wasn't even aware of that module.

It's Mongoid functionality, so it seems to make sense to fix up the slugger. If you require this for your project, would be great if you give it a try. Otherwise, we can just leave this issue open until someone else picks it up.

In addition, it was not persisting the document if there was an index on the slug (because of the way mongodb works with unique indexes. see https://github.com/mongoid/mongoid/issues/1674)

Any solution to this problems need careful thought, and I am not sure at this point how to safely implement it. We'll close this issue for now until someone requests the feature on Mongoid 3.0 and we have a better understanding of how to implement this in a principled way.
