the issue is that when I set the trigger position when pausing, that's also the position from which oneshot operates, and it just plays to the end. so i might need to keep track of that position and reset it when leaving oneshot mode?
but can I use oneshot mode when playing loops? presumably yes, right?

okay, I just had to reset_sync_pos.
the annoying thing is, there's no way to query the sync_pos so that I can set it later. so once you hit a oneshot, that thing is unsynced for all time!
