Throughout my 15-year tenure with the Singapore Prison Service, I undertook various roles that cultivated a diverse skillset which I believe is highly relevant to cybersecurity. Initially, I spent 8 years in the specialized unit of the prison's special forces, SPEAR Force, where I honed critical security skills like risk assessment and threat identification in high-pressure environments.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, I pursued a part-time Psychology degree, which propelled me into a 3-year stint as a Correctional Rehabilitation Specialist, also known as a Prison Counsellor. By leveraging the analytical abilities that I had developed, this phase allowed me to offer guidance to incarcerated individuals, fine-tune my interpersonal skills valuable for collaboration, and deepen my understanding of human behaviour critical for social engineering defence.

Following this, I transitioned into the realm of human resources, dedicating 2 years to initiatives focused on employee well-being and fostering a cohesive work environment.

Amidst this journey, my passion for continuous learning and emerging interest in technology led me to pursue software development through a General Assembly boot camp.

Now, equipped with a unique blend of security expertise, transferable counselling experience and HR insights, a passion for continual learning, and a growing passion for tech development, I am enthusiastic about channelling my adaptive skills, analytical thinking, and collaborative approach into a cybersecurity career.
