I experienced the same problem.  I also discovered a work-around.  If you 
create an
openvpn
config file in

/Users/[your_username_here]/Library/openvpn/[config_name_here].ovpn

You can get it to work.  For that matter, you can create multiple openvpn 
configs in that
directory.  Then, when you click on the Tunnelblick icon in your menubar, all 
the
config files will show up as "Connect [config_name_here]" items in the menu.

Same Issue here. Plus if i'm creating the config file manually it leads me to 
Issue 41.

Hmm. If its too hard/deep to solve this issue with a quick fix, please, can you 
store
an readme-file with a hint and an expample configuration within the DMG-Image?
