Thank you for informing me of this. I will investigate and look at resolution options. For clarity, did you cancel the creation while waiting for the script to complete, or did this error occur without any user inputs?
Can you re-run the creation of your REST Source, and include the parameter input -verbose
and share the output in this issue.

Apologies, I ended up solving this and the issue can be closed. It was actually timing out when adding the function files. It was not clear why it was happening though. I ended up increasing the time manually.

Yes, there is a -Timeout Param that could be used like this:
Publish-AzWebApp -ArchivePath "" -ResourceGroupName "" -Name "" -Force -Timeout 1200000
Apparently it was a combination of my slow upload speed and the fact I was deploying to US WEST which is very far from Australia.
