We plan to add/verify support for .NET Core CLI (DNX has been deprecated by the ASP.NET team and replaced by CLI).

Hi @dnduffy - I was planning on integrating Application Insights with a server-side .NET Core framework I'm building, basically to work with ILoggerFactory and friends. Trying to establish if I should get stuck in, or hold on for something more comprehensive from the MS team. Is there any roadmap/timeline for this?
In fact, is there even a general .NET Core client/SDK for Insights? ApplicationInsights-aspnetcore looks good but it's not clear if it can work outside of ASP.NET Core. There are some issues/comments which suggest it does something with EF too, which is surprising.
Any advice on this would be great, thank you :)

Hi @kierenj - The ApplicationInsights-aspnetcore is for .NET Core but we do have references to AspNetCore packages since that is typically what people use so we hook that request pipeline. If you are using the "full" .NET framework there is support for other features such as dependency tracking of SQL calls.
We have ILogger support on our backlog but no timeline for when we will get to it so I would be happy to take pull requests if you want to contribute features or fixes/changes.
