Extension interoperability has always been a tough problem. The flexibility of the extension system allows any extension to do almost everything it wants. It's always difficult to decide which one should support the other. In this specific instance the Journal extension is adding it's button to the original dash that my extension hides and replace with an extended one.
I'd love to make my dash extendible as it is the default dash, so without any change in other extensions code. I tried to present my dash as the dash, but this was causing some issues. I could try again. Moreover this would not be enough if my extension is loaded after the Journal one. Some additional monitoring of the dash children would be required. Any suggestion is welcome.
