To do some further testing I created a fresh account on my box, and only installed dash-to-dock, and I was not able to reproduce the crash. So it seems to be something else conflicting. On my main account still trying to use anything over version 75 causes the crash(with only dash-to-dock installed). There weren't any specific logs mentioning dash-to-dock, it mostly prints a backtrace of the gnome-shell crash. I'll debug a bit more and see if I can figure out what is causing the issue.

edit: I forgot to add that disabling the trash launcher icon on the dock fixes the crash as well.

The JS issue is fixed in #1954, crash seems unrelated though.

@sekaiacg yeah, I was guessing that, however can you see if replacing !GJS_SUPPORTS_FILE_IFACE_PROMISES with true (i.e. always calling Gio._promisify) helps that?

That's weird though because the code changed in such commit did not interact whatsoever with the one emptying the trash.

After replacing it has no effect, closing file-roller and emptying the trash will crash

Doesn't crash on my end. But clicking on the trash icon gives me an error ('Failed to launch "Trash" proto[finishFunc] is not a function') via notification and does not open the trash bin folder #1952

This isn't just a trash issue I've found. If you mount a secondary drive and then try to open something from that drive, then close it, gnome-shell will crash. Having devices/volumes/trash enabled on the dock causes the crashing, turn them off and it's fine.

I'm on version 78, and same thing happens. As @wescode suggested, disabling devices/trash/volumes inside extension settings doesn't cause gnome-shell crash.
